Presentation / Graphics
Presentation and Graphics
As the title of this devlog states, presentation and graphics were the focus in this weeks update. The goal was to replace many or all of the placeholder sprites to bring the graphics standards up to something i am happy with. Most of the existing sprites were stretched in size resulting in a blurry appearance or jagged edges. The new graphics are almost entirely sourced from RavenTale Studio (https://raventale.itch.io/) who makes some stunning assets and provides them completely free!.
Level Environment
To replace the old environment sprites (trees, rocks, shrubs, ect..) new, higher quality sprites were sourced. The new sprites from RavenTale Studio have significantly increased the visual appeal of MotoMadness. The new additions fit the visual style of the game better and match the motorbike and terrain more closely than the previous sprite set.

Parallax
The second, and perhaps the biggest update around the graphics for MotoMadness is the addition of a parallax effect. The images for the parallax effect was again sourced from RavenTale Studio. The effect consists of 11 different images placed on different layers that repeat in a tile format. Each layer will move a different amount according to where the player is on the level to give a depth effect to the background images. The addition of the parallax effect has dramatically increased the visual appeal of the game. The screenshot below showcases the parallax background as well as the new environment sprites. A gif would have been perfect here but due to the maximum allowable size of gif on this platform i chose to just have a screenshot.
